Milan to sell two stars if Champions qualification fails
Champions League qualification for next year is an imperative goal for AC Milan. Otherwise the rossoneri would have to pay a big price.
In recent months, the rossoneri have not hidden their seasonal goals, namely the Champions League return. The club invested more than 200 million during the summer to sign many players that would help the club return in Europe. That’s Milan’s home, as everyone has said, from Marco Fassone to Vincenzo Montella passing through the players. It’s a matter of prestige, but not only. There are also important economic factors. The money the club can collect by participating in Champions League are so many and considerable for the rossoneri’s budget, which has to be within certain parameters.
Marco Fassone long ago admitted that without Champions qualification, a star player of the team could leave next summer. As mentioned above the budget must respect certain parameters starting from next year and the current economic situation of AC Milan is not the best possible. A year without Champions would worsen the budget considerably.
According to today’s reports from Tuttosport, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Jesus Suso would be the two stars to be sacrificed in case AC Milan finish Serie A outside the top 4. Both have release clauses in their respective new contracts. Gigio’s release clause is around 70 million euros, while Suso has a release clause rumored to be 45 million euros. Figures that some European club could decide to spend next summer.
Especially for Donnarumma there would be no problem finding buyers. His agent Mino Raiola does not believe in AC Milan’s Chinese project and would surely be happy to transfer Gigio elsewhere. Paris Saint Germain could reignite their interest in the young goalkeeper. As for Suso, talks have emerged about Real Madrid’s interest (read here), but his current performance does not suggest that for the moment Los Blancos consider him a real transfer target. Even Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are considered on be on his tracks after the summer inquiries from Inter, Napoli and Roma.
